The Cooperative, formed in 1965, now its about 1,200 producers cultivate 3340 hectares of olive trees with more than 268,000 olive trees in the territory of Canino and neighbouring municipalities in the province of Viterbo. The cultivated olive varieties are caninese, pendolino, leccino, maurino, frantoio. Olives are protected from parasites attacks by the integrated fight technique and are processed in installations that have a daily working capacity of 400 tons. Olives are provided to the Cooperative and processed within 24 hours. Oil is then produced through a system of extraction by centrifugation at room temperature. The oil obtained is a typical and high quality one. The product is stored in stainless steel tanks, in absence of light and oxygen, and located in rooms at strictly controlled temperature. The Oleificio Sociale mills an average of 8000 tons of olives per year, producing about 9500 tons of oil, generally packaged in 5 litres cans, bottles and 10 ml single-dose sachets. The extra virgin oil producted is sold to private consumers in the headquarter of the Oleificio Sociale in Canino or directly on the website www.oscc.it, with home delivery service.
